how to use limewire safely

the best way to use limewire safely is by making use of its functions you can use its spam filter by simple marking a file as spam, this is a great way of eliminating spammers by using limewire to remove these users from your search queries, but this is the problem as they could also been normal uses that have downloaded this crap and and are sharing it without realising it.

but in this case these users are 99% spam users and the way i can identify this is by doing misspelled searches on purpose and then marking these uses as spam.

And this was a technique i seen done on rapidravage blog were they identified bullshit files on the Gnutella network and used limewire to to research the authenticity of the files

Is limewire Safe

Is limewire safe is a question always asked, limewire is a software program that allows users to download files from the gnutella network so in effect its just an interface that organizes and searches for files in the network.

Limewire is a safe program to use but as limewire is an interface to interact with the gnutella network and there is actually no control on what people are sharing, then the true question becomes who is sharing the files with good or bad intensions.

When I say bad intentions I actually am trying to convey that the file is what it says it is and is actually is not which in my experience I have found there to be so many spam files online that are automatically generated on your search term.

Lets say you search for an mp3 file you find and you accidentally misspell the name you would find generated files for that misspelled name for practically anything here is an example below.

I did a search for wow guide for those of you that don't know what wow stands for it stands for it world of warcraft, but i actually misspelled the wow guide and typed in wow gide, now if i spelt it correctly i would have more genuine results, but as i have misspelled it incorrectly and searched for wow gide which of course does not exist just have a look at the bullshit results that are showing each file on the search results in limewire has both the keywords in the sentence.

So what are these BS files being shared

These files are more likely files that would direct you either to a porn site a music site that you have to sign up for or anything to do with getting you to register for a service. These files are in the most popular formats like mov, mp3, asf. The one file format that i don't believe can be hacked to redirect to a sign up service are avi extensions this file format seems to have 100% genuine content.
